She was a two-term Arizona State Legislator, where she started a bi-partisan animal caucus. Board service includes the HSUS Arizona Council, the Amphitheater School District Governing Board, the Tucson Audubon Society and the Arizona Historical Society. She has a BA in Journalism from New Mexico State University and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Arizona.
